I created this work one summer because I was struck by a profound sense of urgency when I realized that I only became deeply conscious of the atomic bombings and war around this particular time of year.

In Japan, awareness and discussion of war tend to intensify every year, especially during the summer. This is largely because we observe the anniversary of the end of World War II.

During this period, the media regularly shares the stories of those who experienced the war firsthand.

“War must never happen again.”

And yet, once that period passes, news and discussions about war largely disappear from our daily lives.

Caught up in the demands of work, I found myself coming home late, turning on the television for a short while, and thinking things like:

“Oh, today was the anniversary of the atomic bombing.”

“Oh, today was the anniversary of the end of the war.”

That was about the extent of my awareness.

The next time I would think deeply about it would be the following year.

And yet, this is something so important.

We should be conscious of it every single day, throughout the entire year—even if the whole world were to become peaceful.

Because otherwise, we may repeat the same mistakes again.

In fact, humanity has continued to repeat foolish mistakes throughout history, and even today, those mistakes are still being repeated somewhere in the world.

So I thought:

“First, I should make an effort to remain conscious of this every single day myself.”

With that thought in mind, I incorporated the numbers “366/366” into the work.

They represent all 366 days of the year—including leap years—expressing the idea of being conscious of war and peace every day, all year round.

Although the words “Hiroshima” and “Nagasaki” are included in the work, this piece is not intended to focus solely on the atomic bombings or on Japan’s war history.

Rather, they are meant to serve as a starting point for thinking about all wars and the possibility of peace throughout the world.シリーズの説明（長文）
