“My treasure”

It is all of my emotions.

Even if it’s unbearably painful,

or so ugly I can’t accept it’s a part of me,

or so pathetic it’s ridiculous…

Even if it’s a joy that feels radiant,

or a happiness so fleeting it might just float away,

or something so fun I can hardly stand it…

beyond them—

each one is proof that I am alive.

And that very truth is my greatest treasure.

It’s only recently
that I came to understand that.

But I’m sure
I still don’t fully understand—
and maybe I don’t need to.

Because it’s precisely in not fully understanding
that I can truly let myself be immersed
in those emotions.
